World Consumer Rights Day 2022

March 17, 2022

On the occasion of the World Consumer Protection Day (March 15), on behalf of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the Secretary of State, Mr. Uroš Kandić, addressed those present at the Galerija mall in Belgrade. He emphasized the increase in online shopping by 70 percent compared to 2020, but also that consumer complaints are reduced to less than 10 percent of the total number of complaints when it comes to e-traders.

This was the time to present E-kiosk - an application for informing consumers about the rights and obligations of theirs, but also traders. One terminal will be set up in Galerija mall for the next six months, so that customers can be informed about the regularities immediately before the purchase, while the application is available to all citizens on the website of the Consumer Protection Sector of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, https: // zastitapotrosaca. gov.rs/ekiosk.

"The idea from the E-kiosk came from something we know and talk about all the time, and that is that consumers are not sufficiently aware of their rights. There is no law that will protect you if you do not show initiative. This is one area that must be permanent. Consumers just need to be aware of their rights. No matter how one-off the campaigns are, consumer protection is a permanent mission ", said the representative of the Kragujevac Consumer Organization, Zoran Nikolić, on the same occasion.

The kiosk was designed and developed in close cooperation between the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and the Twinning project “Reinforcement of consumer protection in Serbia as a response to the new market challenges”, funded by the European Union.
